The master degree program Water Science & Engineering offers an interdisciplinary, research-oriented education at the interface of water-related engineering and natural sciences. Graduates are able to independently develop strategies and technical solutions for the sustainable management of water resources. In addition to advanced fundamentals, one of three profiles can be selected in the specialisation area:
- Water Technologies & Urban Water Management
- Fluid Mechanics & Hydraulic Engineering
- Hydrological Dynamics & Hazards
- Sustainable Management of Rivers and Floodplains (available from winter semester 2026/2027)
New starting this fall WS 2026/27
From the winter semester of 2026/27, a new double degree will be offered in collaboration with the University of Strasbourg (UNISTRA) focusing on "Continental Water Sustainability". This program will address the major challenges of sustainably managing continental hydrosystems such as rivers, lakes, and wetlands. Graduates will develop expertise in the physical understanding of hydrosystems, combining this with problem-solving skills in diverse environmental, social, and institutional contexts.

From winter semester 2026/2027 a new double degree between KIT and the University of Strasbourg on hydrosystem management.
